Set for 10Mbps LAN + PoE transmission over 2 wires

ETH10-2wire-A-SET is a set of active converters for the transmission of Ethernet data and PoE power using 2 wires, e.g. one pair of twisted-pair UTP cable. The set allows the installation of cameras or other IP PoE devices in places where the replacement of the existing cabling is impossible or uneconomical. It is characterised by high resistance to external interference.

Basic applications:

• installation of IP PoE cameras in place of existing analogue cameras
• for LAN + PoE transmission over UTP cable where some of the wires have been mechanically damaged
• replacement of an intercom with an IP video intercom
• use of a telephone cable for Ethernet data transmission
• installation of VOIP telephones on existing telephone wiring
• for installation of IP PoE cameras in lifts on existing overhang cable

Due to its high resistance to interference, the ETH10-2wire-A-SET can be used on any cable, but maximum transmission distances may vary depending on the type of cable. The converter set works best with UTP twisted pair cable. Adequate insulation against electromagnetic interference and twisting of the wires in the 2wire path positively affect the transmission range. The maximum cable length in the 2wire path is 1000m.

For cables other than twisted-pair UTP, the maximum range and throughput may differ from those stated. Factors such as the quality of the cable, the number of connectors on the cable path, damage to the insulation and the environmental conditions present at the installation site can affect the actual transmission distance and must be taken into account in the design.

ETH10-2wire-A-TX module is powered from any PoE switch (RJ45 port) and then, via 2 cables, allows bi-directional network communication and powering of the ETH10-2wire-A-RX module together with the PoE camera.

Transmission and power is indicated by LEDs:

• PWR - The device is powered
• LED LINK - Signalling transmission between modules
• LED on RJ45 port (yellow) - presence of PoE power on port
• LED on RJ45 port (green) - link and data transmission
• LED LV - Low voltage, low voltage (<44V) on the device

LED LV latches on and indicates a voltage drop on the ETH10-2wire-A-RX receiver below 44V DC. It can be reset by switching off the device and applying power again.

Its lighting signals the need to verify that the power supply to the set is correct. A voltage drop below 44V DC may be the cause of unstable operation or will prevent PoE receivers connected to the ETH10-2wire-A-RX from starting up after restart.

ETH10-2wire-A-SET modules have the possibility of being powered from external power supplies via additional POWER screw connectors. For correct power supply to the PoE receivers, the voltage must be higher than 44V.

Key features and functions:

• possibility to be powered from the PoE switch in the standard 802.3af, 802.3at or PoE Passive (PoE IN port)

• small size of the device enabling installation in small spaces e.g. in the base of the camera
• low power consumption of the device (< 1 W)
• easy and quick start-up without the need to configure the parameters
• wide range of operating temperature

The device has a protection level of IP20, a suitable enclosure (minimum IP44) is required to ensure protection from the elements and condensation.

If the device will be used in a small space, it is possible to cut and break the mounting brackets of the base to reduce the dimensions of the module.

ETH10-2wire-A-SET is equipped with a universal mounting base, which allows mounting in several ways:

• using the mounting studs on the 10.8mm grid, which is used in all ABOX enclosures
• with the use of mounting studs for RACK 19" and RACK 10" adapters
• by screwing through the additional holes to any flat surface
• using additional adapter ADD-TH35 it is possible to mount the module on the TH35 rail (DIN)

• Unlike other converter models, 2wire allows us to run 10Mbps transmission on simple untwisted wires.
• We can run two or more sets on individual wires of a single cable.
• The bandwidth and distance values given are for a single pair of wires of a UTP cable, in reality they may vary depending on the cable used on the 2wire track.
• The modules are connected by a pair of wires using DATA connectors, which transmits both data and power. The POWER connector should only be used to supply power from an external power supply.
